Fujiya (TYO:2211) has begun producing Country Ma'am soft cookies in Vietnam as it builds an export base for Asia and trims costs, Nikkei reported Friday.
Its Tay Ninh plant, the brand's first overseas site, started operations in November with an annual capacity of 3,600 metric tons, or about 500 million cookies. Shipments to 12 markets, including Japan, are planned by the end of June, starting with Thailand and followed by South Korea and Taiwan, according to the report.
Country Ma'am has mainly been made at Fujiya's Hadano factory in Japan. Nine of the 12 destinations targeted from Vietnam already import from Japan, with output to shift gradually, the report said.
Fujiya Vietnam is backed by trading house Marubeni (TYO:8002), which will support market analysis and AI-driven sales, according to the report.
