Tech stocks were lower Thursday afternoon, with the State Street Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) decreasing 1% and the State Street SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) falling 2.5%.
The Philadelphia Semiconductor index slumped 3%.
In corporate news, Meta Platforms (META) confirmed to MT Newswires Thursday that it will support rival AI chatbots using its WhatsApp Business platform in Europe for the next 12 months in response to the European Commission's regulatory process. Meta shares were down 2%.
