1525 ET - Nike's footwear is surging back to its historical level of popularity after falling out of favor with consumers in recent years, Stifel analyst Peter McGoldrick says in a note. Nike is now the clear leader in core domestic footwear channels once again, followed by New Balance and Adidas, McGoldrick says, citing a recent survey. Nike's Dunk sneakers were the most popular product in the survey, he says. Nike's rebound reflects traction with key partners like Dick's Sporting Goods, Foot Locker and JD Sports, he says. The magnitude of Nike's improvement in the survey results "encourages greater confidence in the brand's competitive position in North America," he says. "We feel better about the likelihood of the turnaround." (kelly.cloonan@wsj.com)
