Meta Platforms (META) still plans to develop custom processors that are capable of training its future artificial intelligence models despite the technology giant's recent deals with key chipmakers, Bloomberg News reported Wednesday, citing Chief Financial Officer Susan Li.
Some of Meta's workloads "really are very customized" to the company, Li reportedly said.
"The sort of ranking and recommendations workloads have been where we have started, and that's the place where we have rolled out custom silicon at the most scale," the news outlet quoted Li as saying. "But we expect and are hopeful that we are going to expand that over time, including eventually to training AI models."
