BYD's New Model Push Seen Lifting Market Share -- Market Talk

Dow Jones11:22

0322 GMT - BYD's upcoming wave of model launches could help the EV maker regain market share, Bernstein analysts say in a note. The company plans to launch more than 10 new models across its BYD, Denza, Fang Cheng Bao and Yangwang brands, they say. While the analysts don't expect BYD to return to its prior market share peak given limited reach into the entry-level mass market, the fast-charging advantage and refreshed model cycle should help stabilize and regain share to mid 20% over the next one or two quarters, as the new models and the 1.5MW charging network rolls out, they say. Bernstein maintains an outperform rating for the stock at a target price of HK$130.00. Shares last at HK$93.35. (jiahui.huang@wsj.com; @ivy_jiahuihuang)
