While the success of Gitlab Duo could soothe market fears about AI eroding the company's business model, the analysts say it will be difficult for the platform to reclaim mindshare and drive monetization any time soon. "Duo was a relative late entrant versus GitHub Copilot and several AI-native startups, and our checks continue to indicate uneven customer interest, particularly among smaller teams that view standalone copilots as cheaper and more mature," the analysts say.
