Indian Energy Exchange Posts 30% Rise in Monthly Electricity Traded Volume in February

Electricity exchange Indian Energy Exchange (NSE:IEX, BOM:540750) recorded a 30% year-on-year rise in its monthly electricity traded volume to 12,550 million units (MU) in February, according to a Thursday filing to the Indian stock exchanges.

A total of 1.9 million renewable energy certificates were traded in February, up 15% from a year ago.

While energy consumption rose 2% year-on-year in February, power exchange prices were lower than in the previous year due to higher supply liquidity on the platform.

The market-clearing price in the day-ahead market was down 18% from the previous year at 3.58 Indian rupees per unit during February. Also, the price in the real-time market declined by 18% year on year to 3.59 rupees per unit in February.
