Market Chatter: Nvidia Could Face US Draft Rules Requiring Approval for AI Chip Exports

MT Newswires Live02:28

Nvidia (NVDA) could be required to seek US approval for AI chip exports under draft regulations being considered by the Trump administration, Bloomberg reported Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The rules are not intended as an Nvidia export ban but would position the US government as a gatekeeper for the AI industry. Large shipments would require involvement from the host country's government, with approvals for allies contingent on security commitments and investments in American AI.

The draft regulations are not finalized and could change substantially or be shelved for other priorities, the report added.

Nvidia did not immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
