Nissan Warns Sunderland Plant Could Close Amid New EU Rules, FT Says, Citing Sources

-- Nissan has warned the U.K. government that it might have to close its Sunderland plant if the country is excluded from new "Made in Europe" manufacturing targets proposed by the European Union, FT says, citing unnamed sources.

-- The EU has proposed that EVs and vehicles for corporate fleets must be assembled within the bloc, which would exclude Nissan, Jaguar Land Rover and Toyota as they make vehicles in the U.K. for European markets, FT adds.

-- Nissan was not immediately available for comment while U.K. officials said they are seeking clarity on the effects of the proposal, according to FT.
