Two American sailors were injured in a fire on the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford in the Red Sea on Thursday, according to the U.S. Central Command.

The fire, which had been contained, originated in the ship's main laundry spaces and is not combat-related, according to a statement from Centcom.

Two sailors are now receiving medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries, Centcom said. Both are in stable condition. "There is no damage to the ship's propulsion plant, and the aircraft carrier remains fully operational," Centcom said

The Ford is on track for an 11 month deployment, the longest in U.S. naval history, after criss crossing the Atlantic Ocean twice in the last year. Twice extended, the ship is also having problems with its sewage system.
