Best Buy Could See Challenges from Memory Shortage -- Market Talk

Dow Jones03-12 21:24

0924 ET - Best Buy is preparing for potential challenges from a shortage of memory, as data centers gobble up more chips. Chief Executive Corie Barry says at the UBS Global Consumer and Retail Conference the company could see unit sales pressure in its computing products due to higher memory costs passing through to higher prices. "I think we're just contemplating, could there be a situation where there are just some constraints, you just actually can't get some of the product," Barry says. "All of that memory is being shifted to commercial uses in a way from some consumer products, which is creating the shortage overall." (nicholas.miller@wsj.com)
