Geely Recalls Elf EVs Over Battery Fire Risk

MT Newswires Live03-12

Zhejiang Geely Automobile Manufacturing (HKG:0175) is recalling Elf electric vehicles due to potential battery defects that could cause fires, according to China's State Administration for Market Regulation.

Starting March 17, the recall covers 16,072 Elf #1 models produced between August 2022 and October 2023, and 2,145 Elf #3 vehicles made between October 2022 and August 2023.

Faulty manufacturing in high-voltage battery components may cause internal resistance to spike after prolonged use, degrading performance and risking thermal runaway in extreme cases, according to the filing.

Elf Auto Sales Nanning will inspect vehicles and replace battery assemblies free of charge.
