Market Chatter: HSBC Shutters Qatar Branches, StanChart Mandates Work From Home in Dubai

MT Newswires Live03-12

HSBC (HKG:0005) closed all its branches in Qatar in response to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, according to multiple media reports Wednesday.

The bank took the measure to ensure the safety of staff and consumers, Reuters reported, citing a customer notice.

Meanwhile, Standard Chartered (HKG:2888) ordered staff to evacuate its Dubai offices and work from home instead, Reuters said.

Iran previously warned that it would attack economic and banking interests linked to the U.S. and Israel in response to the recent bombing by both countries.
