China has launched SYT80, a T1200-grade ultra-high-strength carbon fiber, achieving mass production ahead of any other nation, Xinhua News reported Wednesday.
Developer China National Building Material Company (HKG:3323) said the material has reached hundred-tonne annual capacity, according to the report.
Thinner than a human hair but 10 times stronger than ordinary steel at just one-quarter the density, SYT80 debuted at Paris's JEC World show, Xinhua wrote. Applications span high-speed rail, aerospace, new energy, medical equipment, and more.
