Joby Aviation (JOBY), Archer Aviation (ACHR), BETA Technologies (BETA), and Electra.aero will launch electrically powered air-taxi trials in more than two dozen US states following regulatory approval for pilot projects, Bloomberg News reported Monday, citing a statement from the US Department of Transpiration.
The agency selected eight out of more than 30 proposals under the advanced air mobility and electric vertical takeoff and landing integration pilot program, the report said.
The programs involve partnerships between the manufacturers and transportation authorities in New York, New Jersey, Texas, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina, the report said.
The three-year program allows companies to assess aircraft in active public settings before pursuing Federal Aviation Administration certification, the report said.
The four companies, the DOT and the FAA did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
