NATO Air Defenses Intercept Missile in Turkish Airspace -- WSJ

NATO air defenses intercepted a ballistic missile launched from Iran that entered Turkish airspace, the Turkish Defense Ministry said, the second time in the 10-day-old conflict the military alliance has acted to defend member country Turkey.

The missile was shot down by North Atlantic Treaty Organization assets in the Eastern Mediterranean, the ministry said. Some debris fell in a vacant area in Turkey's southern Gaziantep province. Last week, an Iranian missile targeted a key Turkish military base where the U.S. stations nuclear weapons. An American warship intercepted that missile.
