Those are funds that don't allow full redemptions at any time, Wood explained on the \"In The Know\" podcast. It promised investors that it would deliver 10-12% bond-like yields, making investors feel \"safe.\" \nHowever, with the treasury yielding 4%, a 10-12% return can be risky.\n\"The problem now is that many of these companies that started or were funded during COVID are now in the five-to-seven year window where they want to roll over the debt that's not going to be possible in this new world,\" Wood said.\nPrivate equity and private credit firms that invested in software-as-a-service (SaaS) companies are also seeing declines, as concerns that AI and platform-as-a-service companies will erode the software sector’s relevance, Wood explained.\n\"Eleven to 12% dividend yields, those were not risk-free at all, and we're learning an important lesson,\" Wood said.\nWood noted that we are not seeking private credit \"drama\" to play out in bank credit default swaps. Wood added that the banks are not exposed to this particular crisis, which is “reassuring.”\nThe same is true for high-yield debt, Wood added. Junk bonds are near an all-time low relative to 10-year Treasury securities and remain unaffected.\nPrivate credit investors have become panicked, fueled by the speed of recent collapses.\nIn February, Blue Owl Capital (NYSE:OWL) announced a pivot to accelerate redemptions. The firm liquidated $1.4 trillion in assets to return capital to existing investors. \nCEO Craig Packer characterized the move as a “strategic transaction,” but that didn’t calm investors.
