Costco Seen Making Progress on Renewal Rates -- Market Talk

Dow Jones03-11

1426 ET - Costco seems to be making progress on their efforts to reverse a decline in U.S. and Canada membership renewal rates, Oppenheimer analysts write in a note, citing a meeting with company leadership. "Stabilization in the rate is likely in the coming quarters," the analysts write. They add that they left the meeting feeling more positive about the company's executive membership upgrades, as growth in that category accelerated quarter-over-quarter, potentially due to increased perks and expanded hours for executive members. "In addition, opportunities remain to drive higher penetration in certain US regions and to add this premium membership tier to more international markets over time," the analysts write.
