American Public Education Q4 Earnings Rise, Revenue Falls; Shares Gain After Hours

American Public Education (APEI) reported Q4 earnings late Thursday of $0.67 per diluted share, up from $0.63 a year earlier.

Analysts polled by FactSet expected $0.37.

Revenue in the three months ended Dec. 31 fell to $158.3 million from $164.1 million a year earlier.

Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected $151.8 million.

The company expects Q1 EPS of $0.58 to $0.64 on revenue of $173 million to $175 million. Analysts project EPS of $0.50 on revenue of $165.5 million.

American Public expects full-year EPS of $2.15 to $2.47 on revenue of $685 million to $695 million. Analysts project EPS of $2.27 on revenue of $685.9 million.

The company authorized a stock buyback of up to $50 million.

American Public shares rose 2.5% in after-hours trading.
