RBA March Rate Increase Now Seems More Likely Than Not -- Market Talk

Dow Jones03-13 10:55

0255 GMT - The Reserve Bank of Australia now appears more likely than not to increase rates in March, according to HSBC economist Paul Bloxham. HSBC had previously anticipated the RBA would hold in March and not increase rates until 3Q. "However, it is not a 'slam dunk'," Bloxham says. The RBA could still choose to hold rates in March amid market turbulence related to conflict in the Middle East, he says. HSBC also adds another rate increase in 2Q to its outlook.
