Kura Sushi's Profit Rises 17% in Fiscal Q1

Kura Sushi's (TYO:2695) profit attributable to owners of the parent climbed 17% to 1.08 billion yen in the fiscal first quarter from 921 million yen a year earlier.

The sushi restaurant chain owner's earnings per share increased to 27.08 yen from 23.18 yen a year ago, according to a Tokyo bourse filing on Thursday.

Net sales rose 7.5% to 62.9 billion yen for the three months ended Jan. 31 from 58.6 billion yen in the prior year.

For the fiscal year ending Oct. 31, the company expects attributable profit of 3 billion yen, basic EPS of 37.74 yen, and net sales of 257 billion yen.

Kura Sushi plans to pay a year-end dividend of 15 yen per share for the current year, after taking into account a two-for-one stock split.
