Dollar Tree's 4Q Hurt by Severe Winter Weather -- Market Talk

Dow Jones03-16 20:38

0837 ET - Dollar Tree CEO Mike Creedon says the company's latest quarter was hurt by severe winter weather. "We don't typically call out weather as those impacts tend to normalize over time, but the severity of these storms makes it appropriate to address as at the peak of the disruptions, nearly half of our store fleet was impacted by closures," he says on a call with analysts. Despite the weather headwinds, Dollar Tree's 4Q comparable sales rose 5%. "The comp performance reflected continued ticket growth and expected decline in traffic, strong seasonal execution and high discretionary engagement with the customer," Creedon says. Dollar Tree is up 2% premarket. (connor.hart@wsj.com)
