Trivago promoted three executives to its C-suite in a bid to capitalize on artificial intelligence and improve the company's strategic focus.

The global hotel-and-accommodations search platform appointed Alexander Volkmann as chief intelligence officer, Sherin Hegazy as chief commercial officer and Ioannis Papadopoulos as chief technology officer.

AI-powered campaigns and search-and-content tools have fueled revenue growth and increased the company's conversion rate in recent quarters, the company said. It is targeting improved profitability on double-digit revenue growth this year.

"There is significant value still to be created for our users, and we have only begun to expand what trivago can truly offer them," the company said Thursday. "A stronger, more decisive leadership team is how we unlock that, for our users and for our shareholders."

Papadopoulos has served in the CTO role since October after returning to trivago early last year, the company said. Before that, he served as CTO and chief executive officer of vacation rental platform Homelike. He will oversee trivago's end-to-end technology agenda, the company said.

Hegazy most recently served as global head of partnerships. She will oversee enterprise and hotel partnerships at the C-suite level, the company said.

Volkmann most recently served as trivago's head of marketplace and deals, according to his LinkedIn profile. His new mandate includes the company's data and analytics strategy, AI and machine learning work, and he will step into the role upon returning from parental leave in April, the company said.
