SINGAPORE--Singtel's corporate venture-capital arm is launching a US$250 million fund to invest in high-growth artificial-intelligence startups globally.

This brings the total managed capital of Singtel Innov8 to US$500 million, along with Innov8's existing US$250 million evergreen fund, Singtel said Friday.

The AI Growth Fund aims to strengthen the Singapore telecommunications operator's AI strategy by deepening its role as an adopter, enabler and provider of AI, it added.

The fund will focus on growth-stage AI companies in areas critical to Singtel, such as customer engagement, network operations and cyber security. Innov8 also facilitates collaboration among portfolio companies and Singtel's operating units to scale solutions.

Established in 2010, Innov8 has more than 120 investments globally, including used-car marketplace Carro and digital wealth-management platform Endowus.
