REalloys (ALOY) said it successfully tested a new method to produce rare earth fluoride materials used in metal manufacturing without relying on hydrofluoric acid.
Independent laboratory analysis confirmed the process generated fluoride material with an oxygen content of 0.34% by weight, a level suitable for rare earth metal production, the company said Monday in a statement.
REalloys said the method converts rare earth oxides into fluorides used as inputs for metal and alloy production, removing the need for hydrofluoric acid that is commonly used in conventional processing.
The company filed patent applications covering elements of the technology and the underlying chemical process.
