Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google Cloud chief executive, Thomas Kurian, met with Pentagon officials on Feb. 26 to pitch the company as a defense partner, The New York Times reported Wednesday, citing two people with knowledge of the meeting.
Google, which swore off military work in 2018, is quietly rebuilding its relationship with the Defense Department and in his meeting, Kurian offered an expanded supply of some of the best AI tools on the market, according to the report.
After signing a deal with OpenAI, the Defense Department also agreed to add Google's AI agents to its unclassified networks, publicly announcing the move last week, The New York Times said.
Alphabet did not immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
