Apple Should Rectify 'Monopolistic' Behavior, China State-Owned Newspaper Says

Apple should ease restrictions on its app store and fix "monopolitistic" practices, a newspaper owned by China's Communist Party said in an editorial Tuesday.

The editorial by People's Daily came out after Apple said it would slash the fees it collects for app store fees, Bloomberg reported separately.

Apple's action shows the Chinese side has "effectively exerted pressure" on the iPhone maker through improved digital market rules, the newspaper said.

The iPhone maker said it will reduce its commission on app store purchases on the mainland to 25% from 30%, Bloomberg reported.
