Major digital assets fell Wednesday with Bitcoin (BTC-USD) down while still holding above the $71,000 level.
The CoinDesk Market Index, which tracks dozens of digital assets including Bitcoin, fell 5% in the past 24 hours. The Nasdaq fell 1.4% in late trading, the S&P 500 declined 1.3%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 1.6%.
Bitcoin fell 4.6% to $71,107, according to CoinMarketCap data. The most popular cryptocurrency's 24-hour trading volume dropped 14.3% to $45.03 billion.
Ethereum (ETH-USD), the second-largest digital asset by market value, fell 5.8% to $2,185.
XRP (XRP-USD) shed 5.5%, BNB (BNB-USD) dropped 3.7%, and Solana (SOL-USD) declined 5.5%. Dogecoin (DOGE-USD) eased 5.8%, and Cardano (ADA-USD) fell 5.8%.
The US 10-year Treasury yield stood at 4.257% at 3 p.m. ET Wednesday, up from 4.200% Tuesday, while the five-year yield rose to 3.860% from 3.784%.
The total market value of the cryptocurrency industry fell 4.2% in the past 24 hours to $2.44 trillion, with trading volume dropping 4.8% to $147.1 billion.
