Market Chatter: Eni in Talks to Secure Natural Gas Supply From Algeria's Sonatrach

MT Newswires Live03-20 20:21

Eni (E) is renegotiating contracts with Algeria's Sonatrach to try and secure more natural gas for Italy as the Iran war hampers supply, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Sonatrach has asked Italy to buy any extra fuel from the spot market, where prices are currently higher but deliveries are more immediate, the report said.

It remains uncertain whether Italy would accept those terms, the report added.

Eni did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
