Eni (E) said Wednesday that it has taken the final investment decisions for two deepwater gas projects located offshore in Indonesia's East Kalimantan province, expected to supply the domestic market and the Bontang LNG plant.

The company said that for the Gendalo and Gandang project, it plans to drill seven producing wells and install deepwater subsea production systems.

For the Geng North and Gehem fields project, Eni said it expects to drill 16 producing wells. It plans to install subsea systems linked to a newly built floating production storage and offloading unit to process over 1 bscfd of gas and 90,000 bpd of condensate, with a storage capacity of 1.4 million barrels.

The combined volumes in place for the two projects, which are expected to begin in 2028, amount to about 10 Tcf of gas initially in place, with 550 million barrels of associated condensate.

The plan also includes extending the operating life of the Bontang LNG plant by reactivating one of its currently idle liquefaction trains, Eni said.

Eni said it will reach a production plateau of 2 bscfd of gas and 90,000 bpd of condensate in 2029.
