Microsoft-backed (MSFT) OpenAI is finalizing strategies for a major shift to refocus on coding and business users, The Wall Street Journal reported late Monday, citing Fidji Simo, the startup's chief executive of applications.
OpenAI's top executives, including CEO Sam Altman and Chief Research Officer Mark Chen, were actively evaluating to deprioritize certain business areas, and plan to communicate the changes in the coming weeks, according to the news outlet.
"We cannot miss this moment because we are distracted by side quests," Simo was quoted as saying by the WSJ. "We really have to nail productivity in general and particularly productivity on the business front."
OpenAI did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
