Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes sued Kalshi alleging the prediction-markets platform is operating an illegal gambling business.

The lawsuit filed on Tuesday includes 20 counts including illegal gambling and betting on Arizona elections.

Arizona law prohibits wagering on elections, as well as operating a gambling business without a license.

Last week, Kalshi preemptively sued Mayes and several Arizona Department Gaming officials seeking a permanent injunction and declaratory relief. Arizona's gaming department had sent Kalshi a cease-and-desist letter in May 2025.

Kalshi has also sued Iowa and Utah in recent weeks. A federal judge in Ohio last week denied Kalshi's request for a preliminary injunction.
