Hong Kong Exports Surge 29.5% in January

Hong Kong's export and import volumes rose 29.5% and 33.9% year over year, respectively, in January, data released Tuesday by the city's Census and Statistics Department showed.

Export and import prices increased 3.3% and 3.1%, respectively.

Export volumes to major destinations, including Taiwan, mainland China, Vietnam, and the U.S., increased, while shipments to India declined.

Import volumes from Vietnam, Korea, mainland China, and Singapore rose, while imports from Taiwan edged down.

For the three months ended January, export and import volumes increased 22.1% and 24.8% year over year, respectively.
