SK Telecom (KRX:017670) and Swedish networking and telecommunications firm Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) signed a memorandum of understanding to develop mobile network technologies spanning 5G to future 6G, the South Korean telecommunications firm said in a Thursday release.
The partnership establishes a framework for continuous technology development, supporting 5G innovation deployment while working on long-term 6G research and standards.
The contract runs until March 2, 2031, and will focus on joint testing and validation of the new network technologies, the release said.
Shares of SK Telecom fell nearly 3% in recent trade.
