General Dynamics Gets $15.4 Billion Navy Contract Modification for Submarine Work

General Dynamics (GD) unit General Dynamics Electric Boat received a $15.38 billion contract modification from the US Navy's Naval Sea Systems Command for work related to Columbia-class ballistic missile submarines, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.

The modification covers additional submarine design, lead yard support and sustainment, as well as industrial base development and related initiatives.

The industrial base work supports the Navy's plan for serial production of Columbia- and Virginia-class submarines, according to the statement.
