Geely Automobile (HKG:0175) is preparing to enter the Canadian market, Bloomberg News reported Wednesday, citing an interview with Andy An, chief executive of parent Zhejiang Geely Holding Group.
The automaker expects to secure certification from Canadian regulators for its Geely-branded vehicles soon, according to the report.
The planned entry follows a recent agreement allowing electric vehicle imports from China, the report said.
Geely is also evaluating expansion into Brazil, broader South America, Eastern Europe, and Southeast Asia, Bloomberg reported, citing An.
