Microsoft-backed (MSFT) OpenAI's chief executive Sam Altman has given up direct oversight of the safety and security teams to focus on raising capital, supply chains and constructing datacenters at "unprecedented scale," The Information reported Tuesday, citing his address to employees.
The CEO shifted the safety team under OpenAI's research organization headed by chief research officer Mark Chen, and its security team will move to the "scaling" organization overseen by cofounder and president Greg Brockman, the report said.
Moreover, Altman said OpenAI has completed the initial development of its next major AI model, codenamed Spud, according to the report.
OpenAI did not immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
