Microsoft-backed (MSFT) OpenAI's chief operating officer Brad Lightcap warned of a potential bottleneck to artificial intelligence infrastructure expansion due to the memory chip shortage and US energy supply constraints, Bloomberg reported Tuesday.

Lightcap made the remarks during a Tuesday event and Bloomberg said other industry executives have flagged the same issues.

OpenAI did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for a comment.
