Alibaba (BABA) and ByteDance are planning to order Huawei's new artificial intelligence chip, Reuters reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Huawei sent samples of its 950PR chip to customers in January and plans mass production in April, targeting to ship 750,000 units of the chip this year, two of the people reportedly said.

The 950PR is better suited to Nvidia's (NVDA) CUDA software system and delivers improved response speeds, Reuters said, citing the unnamed sources.

Alibaba, ByteDance, and Huawei did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
