Market Chatter: US DOJ Issues Subpoenas in Paramount-Warner Bros. Merger Probe

MT Newswires Live02:16

The US Department of Justice has issued subpoenas in its investigation of Paramount Skydance's (PSKY) $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), Reuters reported Friday, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The probe focuses on how the transaction would affect cinemas, as well as studio production, content rights, and competition among streaming services, the report said, citing the sources.

Paramount, Warner Bros. Discovery, and the DOJ didn't immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comments.

Acting Assistant Attorney General Omeed Assefi told Reuters last week that Paramount will not get a fast-track approval due to political factors. Paramount's Chief Legal Officer Makan Delrahim said Wednesday that the company expects regulatory review in multiple jurisdictions, the report added.
