Tech stocks were lower Friday afternoon, with the State Street Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) falling 1.3% and the State Street SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) dropping 2%.
The Philadelphia Semiconductor index shed 1%.
In corporate news, Super Micro Computer (SMCI) sold servers with restricted AI chips to four Chinese universities over the last year, including two linked to the People's Liberation Army, Reuters reported Friday, citing procurement data. Super Micro shares were down 2.4%.
