The Philippines' producer price index (PPI) for manufacturing rose 1.4% year over year in February, slightly faster than the 1.3% increase in January, data from the Philippine Statistics Authority showed.

The acceleration was driven mainly by a 2.9% rise in the manufacture of computer, electronic, and optical products, up from 2.7% in the previous month.

Faster growth in the manufacture of beverages at 1.7%, and a 2.6% increase in basic metals, also supported the expansion.

Monthly, the PPI slipped 0.1% in February, reversing the 0.2% increase in January, data showed.
