1435 ET - In a low-growth environment, Canada's telcos are embracing AI to help bring down costs, says Stephanie Price of CIBC. In a report, the analyst says that as cost-savings and efficiency become the leverage of performance, "AI and automation will play a role, with customer support and network management the largest initial AI use cases." At the same time, the analyst says that they may turn to AI to reduce churn, improve customer experiences and as a result, beef up revenue. She points to BCE and Telus as leaders here, with both investing the most in the AI opportunity. She notes that both are guiding to C$2 billion in AI-related revenue by 2028, which Price estimates implies implying a 30% compounded annual growth rate from 2025. (adriano.marchese@wsj.com)
