CHICAGO, March 30 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for corn and soybeans were steady to stronger at grain elevators and processing facilities in the U.S. Midwest, dealers said.
Dealers were in a wait-and-see mode ahead of the release of U.S. Department of Agriculture's prospective plantings and quarterly grain stocks reports on Tuesday.
The agency is expected to estimate that farmers this spring intend to plant 94.371 million acres of corn, down from 98.788 million last year, and 85.549 million acres of soybeans, up from 81.215 million last year, according to a Reuters poll of analysts.
Farmer sales were sluggish as they spent time doing field work and preparing for plantings, a dealer said.
Soy processing facilities raised their basis bids by 5 cents per bushel in Decatur, Indiana, and Morristown, Indiana.
