Tenex.AI has raised $250 million in a Series B funding round led by Crosspoint Capital Partners.

The artificial-intelligence cybersecurity startup said the new funding would support more than 250 new hires, as well as investment in its platform, deeper partnerships, and expansion into Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

The funding is "a chance to put hundreds more people into the fight this year, armed with AI that makes each of them 10X more effective than they would be anywhere else," Chief Executive Eric Foster said, adding that the company's name refers to this tenfold increase in human efficiency.

"Our agentic AI triages, investigates and surfaces findings to human analysts who make every critical decision," Foster added. "AI handles the volume. Humans handle the judgment."

Crosspoint Capital Partners Managing Partner Greg Clark said the firm's investment was motivated by a belief that Tenex's model has an advantage over legacy cybersecurity firms.

"Tenex provides better gross margins than traditional software, where customers buy an outcome like traditional managed service offerings," Clark said. "The financial opportunity in the AI enablement comes from the market's underestimation of how AI can transform the value of services industries."

The new funding round comes as investors worry about the potential of AI-native cybersecurity operations to displace traditional firms. Cybersecurity stocks fell last week after a leaked Anthropic blog post suggested an unreleased Claude model had significantly improved cybersecurity capabilities.

In addition to Crosspoint, Tenex is backed by venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz. The company is also a partner of Google Cloud Security.
