Rio Tinto Leads FTSE 100 Gainers as Aluminum Prices Jump -- Market Talk

0831 GMT - Rio Tinto leads London's FTSE 100 index as aluminum prices jump. This comes after Iran struck key aluminum producers in Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates over the weekend. Rio Tinto is a major producer of the metal. In morning European trade, three-month futures on the London Metal Exchange gain 3.8% to $3,420 a metric ton. The miner rises 3.6% while commodity giant Glencore is up 1.9%. (adam.whittaker@wsj.com)
