Australian Miners Tipped to Miss Output Expectations on Weather Setbacks -- Market Talk

Dow Jones04-02

0243 GMT - Australian miners are likely to log a bunch of production misses this quarterly reporting season, in big part because of adverse weather, Barrenjoey analysts say. The Australian bank expects BHP, Rio Tinto, Fortescue, South32 and Mineral Resources will miss expectations following a strong cyclone late in the quarter and other weather-related setbacks. It also expects misses from Coronado, Evolution, Sandfire and IGO. Rare earths miner Lynas could potentially post a revenue beat on stronger-than-expected prices, Barrenjoey says. Vault Minerals could beat on cash flow after closing out the majority of its hedge book late in 2025, it adds. (rhiannon.hoyle@wsj.com; @RhiannonHoyle)
