US Cash Grains-Corn, soybean basis bids steady to firmer

CHICAGO, March 31 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for corn and soybeans were flat to up at grain elevators, river terminals and processing facilities in the U.S. Midwest on Tuesday, dealers said.

  • U.S. farmers intend to plant 95.338 million acres of corn this year, down from 98.788 million acres in 2025, and 84.7 million acres of soybeans, up from 81.215 million acres last year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in a report.

  • Analysts expected corn plantings of 94.371 million acres and soybean plantings of 85.549 million acres.

  • Corn plantings are underway in southern states and the Plains region.

  • In the Midwest, rains are expected to slow fieldwork over the next week, weather forecaster Vaisala said.
