Home Depot Continues Focus on AI With Appointment of New CTO -- Market Talk

Dow Jones04-01

1315 ET - Home Depot names Franziska Bell as its chief technology officer, a role in which she will lead the home improvement retailer's technology, product management, data and AI efforts. The move marks the company's latest effort to double down on AI. Home Depot has looked to take advantage of the technology with a product discovery integration with OpenAI's ChatGPT, a virtual AI assistant that offers advice for projects as well as a number of AI-powered solutions designed for home improvement pros. Bell most recently led AI transformation at Ford Motor, and previously worked at Uber and Toyota. Bell's expertise "will be invaluable as we invest to remove friction and make home improvement seamless for our associates and customers," CEO Ted Decker says. (kelly.cloonan@wsj.com)
