Major Central Banks Unlikely to Cut Rates This Year, CE Says -- Market Talk
Dow Jones04-01
0507 GMT - Major central banks are unlikely to cut rates this year, according to Capital Economics. In its baseline scenario, CE says it still doubts any major central bank will ease this year as energy prices likely remain high and the European Central Bank may even hike interest rates. U.S. Treasury yields may not end the year much below current levels, as market pricing has already reverted to a flat fed funds rate profile this year, it says in a research note. Some of the recent fall in yields was due to growth concerns over U.S. economic activity, which might unwind, CE says. (tracy.qu@wsj.com)
